Important note about Browser and Fonts

This site uses MathML (Mathematical Markup Language) to support rendering of various symbols in the mathematical and science subjects. You are requested to use Mozilla Firefox version 3.5 and above as the browser of choice for this site. You can download it from the Mozilla website for free here.

Thereafter, preferably, you should download and install the STIX Beta fonts for best MathML rendering. The STIX Fonts Project has been developing a complete set of fonts to cover all the symbols in MathML. A beta release of the fonts can be downloaded in a zipped file from the Mozilla website here.

Instructions for installing the STIX fonts

Unzip the downloaded STIX font archive to a folder. Follow the instructions below as relevant to you operating system.

Microsoft Windows

1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel (In Windows XP, choose Start > Control Panel).
2. Double-click the Fonts folder.
3. Choose File > Install New Font.
4. Locate and select the folder where you have unarchived the STIX fonts.
5. Once the "List of fonts:" box retrieves all the font names, select the checkbox for "Copy fonts to the Fonts folder."
6. Click OK to install the fonts.

MacOs

Copy the font files to a "~/Library/Fonts" folder.

Linux/Unix

Copy the font files to "~/.fonts/" directory (which may need to be created) of your user account.
